I have 15 minutes to save my mother’s life….
15 minutes is all the Rewind Agency gives you in the past, but for Lara Crane it’s enough time to race through the city, find her mother, and stop her from being killed in a mugging that happened over ten years ago.
But that’s not how it happened. The story she’s been told all her life is a lie and when Lara takes a bullet meant for her mother, her future changes forever.
The love of her life acts like a stranger. Her simple life is replaced with a giant house, glamorous clothes and a new boyfriend.
Except someone knows her secret. And he will try to stop her at every turn as she races against the clock to unravel a dangerous conspiracy.
15 Minutes is an edgy high octane YA thriller that can be described as Back to the Future meets Inception where the people Lara trusts change in an instant. She is in a timeline she doesn’t understand, and is about to make one fatal mistake as she faces an enemy so familiar, he’s family.
The time travel premise of this novel may have you unsure … but lets put all those first impressions away because in 15 Minutes you’ll be captivated by Lara’s thrilling journey to save her mom, change her live, and have the family she’s always wanted.
Right from the beginning, Lara’s determined to change the one thing that she’s missed all her life, having her mom. Losing her mom at an early age, Lara longs to have the nurturing comfort of her mother’s arms but things don’t always end up the way she expected. She breaks the law and unknowingly alters the life she knew. When she steps back out of time travel, things are completely different from she remembers but her mother is alive, just as she planned, but at what consequences.
Lara’s choice catapults an alternate future. A future with a new family, a father in prison and a workaholic mother. Nothing and no one is how she remembers them. She must race against time to uncover the connections to the people in her new life and the truth surrounding mother’s murder in the past to clear her father’s name.
This novel supplied all the required adrenaline to transport the reader with Lara through time-altering intensity. The author skillfully delivers all the details of Lara’s time travel perimeters while propelling the plot like breadcrumbs through a maze of page turning excitement.
Each character’s place in the story builds with depth and complexity that I could not put down. One moment, I’m nostalgic for Lara’s past, and the next, I’m wide-eyed by the twists and transformations as they unfold. The surprising and expected circumstances of changing one moment in time spiral into the new possibilities for all characters. Beautifully composed writing and brilliant plot development keep you guessing all the way to the end.
Cast of Characters:
Lara Crane: Lara is smart, headstrong and quickly becomes the heroine to get behind. She longs for the comfort of the father and boyfriend altered by her decision. She can’t help but step into the feelings of being an older sister or the familiar kisses of her new boyfriend in this new life even while the danger lurks around her.
Rick: The boyfriend from her previous life. Supportive and terrified he’d lose their life when she changes time. In the alternate timeline, Rick is not the same person she remembers.
Donovan: Boyfriend in her altered life who ends up being the trusting and dependable companion to expose the truth behind her father’s incarceration.
Jax Montgomery: Lara’s step-father. Father of Molly and Mike (Lara’s siblings) Thinks of Lara as his own and becomes the reliable parent while Lara’s mom works late hours. He has a secret too.
John Crane: Lara’s father. In prison in the altered timeline and desperate to prove he is innocent. Loves macaroni and cheese. (who doesn’t? :D)
Miranda Montgomery (formerly Crane): Lara’s mother. Killed by a mugger before Lara changed her fate. Scientist. Works long hours which keep her away from her family often.
Fifteen minutes changed Lara’s life . Fifteen minutes into this novel and I was hooked by the character’s quest and effortless writing-style. It lassoed me into its pages with searing excitement and fast paced scenes. I loved it! If you’re looking for a YA novel that has heart-pounding intensity, exceptional characterization and time travel, this is it! My favorite read of the year! A must read!
Watch out for clock-hands spinning backward!
About the Author:
I could write this in the third person. I could tell you what I like, where I was born, and what my favorite things are.
But instead, I’ll say I don’t want to write like everyone else. I don’t want to craft stories you’ve read a thousand times before. I want my novels to be a cinematic experience, blending themes, genres, and situations unlike any you’ve ever read.
I want to break the rules. I want you to break out in a cold sweat as you read my books out of fear, love, and excitement. I want my books to be an experience. When you finish, I want you to feel something. Good or bad.
If you do, then I’ll have succeeded. If not, I’ll keep trying.
