Genre: New Adult Historical Romance

About Speak Low:

July, 1923

After bootlegging enough whiskey to free her father from the DiFiore crime family, twenty-year old Tiny O’Mara is determined to leave home and take control of her own life.

But it’s going to cost her.

Her alliance with sultry Enzo DiFiore is based more on their intense physical attraction than any loyalty or trust. When he offers her an apartment and nights spent together where anything goes in exchange for some information, she’s tempted beyond measure.

But taking Enzo’s side means betraying gorgeous childhood pal Joey Lupo, the only man she trusts. And even though they spend most of their time at each other’s throats, the heat simmering between them is becoming too hard to ignore–then one night, it boils over.

And won’t stop.

As Enzo’s greed and deception escalate and her feelings for Joey deepen, Tiny realizes her mistakes. She just hopes she gets the chance to fix them before it’s too late.

*Speak Low is the sequel to Speak Easy (on sale for 99 cents on Amazon during November) but can stand alone as a historical romance, complete with HEA!

**This book contains mature content and is intended for readers 18+.

Between the lines-1

Frances “Tiny” O’ Mara thought she knew exactly what she wanted, the sexy as sin mobster, Enzo DiFiore. In Speak Easy, the Difiore’s kidnapped her father and extort money from her for his safty, but she’s still astoundingly attracted to Enzo’s masculine build and licentious posture.  However, her growing feelings for Joey Lupo, a childhood nuisance and evolving protector have her questioning all she thought she wanted. This one is REALLY worth a peak.  GO grab it, NOW!

Holy roaring twenties, Tiny!

Last week, I had the privilege of reading Speak Low, the sequel to Speak Easy by Melanie Harlow.  I must admit, I was undeniably excited about this release and craved more of Frances “Tiny” O’Mara’s tangled triangle with sexy as sin mobster, Enzo DiFiore, and the kiss-melting lips of would-be mobster Joey Lupo as soon as I finished the last pages of Speak Easy.  Speak Low did not disappoint. We pick up the story exactly were it left us- Tiny starring after Joey, lightheaded and numb with want from his sizzling kiss.

Everything shouldn’t be this complicated. Her family is safe, and no-one is shooting at her or kidnapping her. Enzo is just as addicted to her as she is to him, but these moments with Joey singe her heart and soul. Tiny’s heart and wants are at war and she isn’t sure which direction or man is right one.

Tiny supplies Enzo information while trying to keep Joey safe and finds out how little control she really has over the notorious acts of men.

The author’s characters are period relative, fascinating and evolve seamlessly throughout Speak Low.   I barely noticed leaping back in time because Tiny’s ambitions for herself in the 1920’s could parallel women today. These characters are flawlessly authentic.  I became so engrossed; I actually called my husband Joey one evening.  (Sheesh, glad he was half-asleep or I may have some explaining to do. 😉

Joey … sigh

Tiny’s inner monologue of discovery brilliantly exposes what was in her heart. Every scene between her and Joey simmers off the page, and effectively bled into the room. I wasn’t just a witness to their story; I became part of it.

Tiny O’Mara is still the strong-willed, impulsive and courageous woman she was in Speak Easy but in Speak Low she fights to control her own destiny and ultimately finds her happy ever after.

My favorite scenes are layered with unexpected intensity and undeniable sexual tension, which impelled me to continue turning the pages all the way to the end.  I couldn’t put this book down until Tiny found where and whom she needed. I still sigh just thinking about it. And, to top it off, the author gives you a glimpse into Tiny’s future with a perfect Epilogue. Love Loved Loved it!  (so much, I’d read it again and again) I can’t wait to read more from Melanie Harlow.
